Re: 1969 Hurst Olds Quadrajet correct number et "Line Code"
Okay, here we go !! I have a 29251 QJet as you can see it is w/o the "70".. It is supposed to be a real H/O Carb and not a "grocery getter" common unit.. If I could just nail down the correct 2 alpha line coding from GM. will be able to advertise the carb correctly and not cheat anyone with a bogus carb..
I have read via the Internet that 7029251 and 29251 are good numbers, my Julian date is perfect, meaning the carb was built within the first 4 months of 1969 as the Hurst Olds cars were only built in 1969 within that certain timeframe..
Hoping someone up here can clarify the right 2 Alpha "line code" for me.
Wish I could write en Francais, but maybe someopne out there pouvais m'aider.
Merci des Boys!!

Bonjour!! I will ask the question in a different way.. On Rochester carbs ( 2bbl and 4bbl) units there is a manufacturer's line code that is included with the Rochester part number on the driver's side of the carb before the Julian date (4 digit numeric) code.. What I am after is le propre 2 alpha code pour un 1969 Olds H/O . Tres dure a trouver.
Merci!!

Re: 1969 Hurst Olds Quadrajet correct number et "Line Code"
I think we all got the question
Source:442.com
The 4 bbl carb was your run-of-the mill 7029251 carb, and it came with "D" heads. The 1969 H/O also used a air cleaner adapter based on the Ford CobraJet air cleaner top
According to this info, there is unfortunatly no perticular indication that can tell it apart from a Olds factory installed carb and 455 in '69. Your are missing the first 2 digit, i suspect a factory replacement unit? Or just an "oups!" from Rochester carb manufacturing. From what I understand, all Rochester carb will start by 70 at that time.

Re: 1969 Hurst Olds Quadrajet correct number et "Line Code"
Good evening!! The more I try and understand this carb's codings, the more frustrating it becomes.. The manufacturer's code should be "RJ" and Julian dated within the first 4 months of '69 therefore not making it a factory replacement unit. I have a few carbs that are minus the 2 first 70 digits e.g. 29202 DH 0869 another 29202 DH 0989 and the 29251 RJ 1149 . For some reason?? Rochester ran codes minus the front 2 (70) digits on some applications and not on other units early in '69 as per above Julian dates.... None of the above carbs are replacement dated carbs.. First 2 are good on '69 Vette Camaro Chevelle El Camino w/ SB Chevys.
Really like to know what the "RJ" manufacturer's line code stands for.. ??
Thanks for getting back to me!!
